Why Choose Boutique?

If you’re thinking about booking accommodation for your next holiday, or perhaps just a short city break, why should you go for a boutique hotel?

When you go on holiday, where you stay is as important as where you go. It forms an essential part of your holiday experience, so it’s surprising that most people don’t really pay much attention to the type of hotel they are going to be staying in for the duration of their trip. Package holidays use hotels that are virtually identical from one resort to the next. Bedrooms look the same, bathrooms have standard fittings and to the staff, you are just another tourist.

Take a risk

Chain hotels may be a safe option, but for the same price or only slightly more, you could be staying in a hotel that cares about the way it looks and makes a real effort to ensure that your holiday is as good as it can be. What distinguishes a boutique hotel from all the others?

• Thought – big hotel chains follow a simple theme; everything is the same. You could be in any city in the world, and your room, its fittings and its public areas are indistinguishable from any other hotel. Boutique hotels have thought and creativity behind them, resulting in no two being the same – even if they are owned by one company.

• Attitude – boutique attitude always puts the guest first. These hotels understand that the last thing you need is to argue over the wrong bottle of wine, bad food or poorly prepared rooms. That’s why their energy goes into ensuring that everything’s exactly how you want it, all the time.

• Rooms – a boutique hotel still has to work with the basic premise of all hotels – guests have their own room and share public areas. For boutiques, this means that the rooms have to be special and individual; places where people are happy to spend time. That’s why many boutique hotels concentrate on the size of the rooms, rather than the number. It allows them to incorporate really good bathrooms, large beds and spacious areas for relaxing. This focus on turning your hotel room into somewhere you want to spend time rather than a room you’d rather stay out of, is why everyone should try a boutique hotel at least once.

Make a difference

Staying in a boutique hotel really will make a difference to your holiday or business trip. Rather than spending your time noting the negative side of your accommodation, you’ll find yourself impatient to tell all your family and friends to go boutique themselves.

How to play animals

While sitting around with friends this weekend I discovered the greatest card game ever. The name of the game is Animals, and the game is very easy to learn, easy to play and a great source of entertainment.

The game is not a gambling game but gambling can be done easily enough, but I would not expect to see this game in your local casino anytime soon.

I suspect the game started out as a memory game for children, then was taken you young adults and turned into a drinking game, but it does not matter if you are gambling with this game, drinking with this game or just trying to have a fun evening with friends, because it is fun whatever you are playing for.

The best way to play the game is with at least 4 people but no more then 8. You will also need 2 or 3 decks of cards to play Animals and a table for everyone to sit around.

Before the game starts each player must choose an animal noise and a hand gesture to represent them in the game and going around the table each player must announce the name of their animal, the sound the animal makes and its hand gesture. An example of this would be to say I am a cat, meow and the hand gesture may be wiping your face with the back of your hand.

In this game the dealer remains standing the entire round. The dealer will go around the table continuously dealing 1 card to each player until all the cards have been dealt. The dealer must stay at a steady pace and go not too fast and not too slow.

the players must continuously scan the other players top cards and when someone has the same number card on top of their pile as you, you have to make that persons sound and hand gesture. If you do it before they do you get all their cards.

That person is not out of the game the next time the dealer goes around they still get another card. The person with the most cards at the end of the game winds, and is the dealer for the next round.

For kids this is a great game because they have to remember everyone's noise and gesture, this is a fun way for them to help develop their memories, and a great way to get them away from the television for a little while.

For those looking to gamble this game may not earn you as much as playing Blackjack but it is a lot if fun to sit around and make fools of yourselves and make a few bucks. All you have to do is set an amount and everyone puts their money into a pot and the winner gets the pot. It does not get any easier then that.

The drinking game has an extra rule or two. If you make someone's noise and gesture before they do yours, besides getting their cards they need to drink and at the end of each round all the losers need to drink.

Disney For Young Kids

Are you planning a trip with your little ones to visit Mickey? Here are some ways to spice up the magic:

Tip #1 - Meals with a Disney flavor

Build up the excitement by cooking creative meals that have a Disney flavor for your kids. For example, you can buy uncooked pasta in the shape of Mickey Mouse and whip up a delicious and healthy meal for your princes and princesses with that. "The Gourmet Pantry" in DTD carries it. You can call them at 407-828-3886 to order.

Tip #2 - Avoid the crowd

Crowds are annoying especially when you have kids with you, so it is wise to go when schools are in session.

Tip #3 - Hands-free

Considering bringing along the Playtex Hip Hammock if you are traveling with an infant/toddler. If your child is between 15 to 35 pounds, the hammock works perfectly. It keeps you hands-free while waiting for the bus, standing in line, tending to your older kids and browsing in shops. You can also take your toddler on rides with the Hammock. This is handy. It will make your trip just that much more enjoyable.

Tip #4 - Save your sanity

Kids get impatient while waiting in line, so bring snacks and toys to distract them. Take frequent breaks to prevent exhausting the kids. In the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, kids can chill out at Ariel's Grotto and Donald's Boat. Ariel’s Grotto is a great place for kids to cool off in the kids water area and the interactive play area of Donald’s Boat allows children to ring the bell and steer the ship of Donald's ill-fated leaky. You may wish to arrive at the parks early in the morning, so that your kids can have a nap in the afternoon. This will keep them refreshed for the parades and fireworks.

Tip #5 - Research rides

It is important to research rides beforehand because young children may be frightened by loud noise or darkness. If your child is too young to ride Test Track at Epcot, a nice alternative is to duck into Test Track’s gift shop/ exit and let him/her ride on the cars in the shop.

Tip #6 - Dining options

There is a free Baby Care Center in each Disney park, so head for one when you are looking at some peace and quiet when feeding your baby/toddler. These centers are equipped with rockers, high chairs, and toys. There are even formula and baby food for sale. Do remember to plan one character meal because your trip won’t be complete if the little ones don’t get to mingle with their favorite characters.

How to get back in shape

Before starting to work out make sure you get a full physical from your doctor and a letter stating it is ok for you to do physical activity. Many gym and aerobic centers will require this before letting you start.

Depending on how long it has been since you last did regular exercise it is recommended that you start off slow and gradually build up your workout to harder levels.

It is generally recommended to start off at the gym with just the treadmill and the lifecycle for the first week or 2. This is to wake the muscles up and to slowly get you prepared for a harder workout.

You will generally want to find a speed on the treadmill that is a pace you can keep up with little discomfort and do it for 20 minutes. After this take a 5 minute break, stretch a little and have a drink of water, then go back and increase the speed just a bit then do another 20.

Remember that pushing yourself too far is taking a gamble that you may not be able to live with. In a casino you can put everything you have on the roulette table and maybe you win and maybe you lose, but in the gym if you push too hard you can die, so take things slowly.

Many people make the mistake of getting back into an exercise program and going all gung ho an trying to get back in shape in just one hour, well let me tell you this will not work. The only thing this will do is make you very sore the next day and you will not be able to workout that day, and it will make you lose interest fast in the gym. Discomfort in ok pain is not.

Depending on how long it has been since you last worked out, I recommend working out 4 or 5 days a week. This may seem like a lot but if you were trying to win a poker tournament you would go to a casino or an online casino and poker room to practice almost every day right? So you will have to do the same with the gym.

Working out 5 days a week does not necessarily mean you have to go to the gym every day. I recommend the gym 3 times a week and the other day or 2 you can just go for a long fast paced walk around your neighborhood. Try to vary the things you do so that you do not work out the same parts of your body 2 days in a row.

Most professionals will tell you that if you work out your arms and chest on a Monday do not exercise those muscles again for at least 48 hours. This is to give the muscles time to heal and grow. It is this straining and resting of the muscle that makes it grow not just the working it out. If all you did every day was work the same muscle group in a few days the muscle would be more likely to tear in a painful experience and the only thing you will be able to do for several months will be playing in an online casino from your laptop in bed.

Choose A Bed And Breakfast Over A Hotel Chain And Enjoy Your Vacation

Traveling for business or vacationing always has one thing in common; you need a place to stay. Unfortunately, many individuals choose large hotel chains which have no personality and do nothing more than provide a place to sleep for their guests. However, when business and vacation travelers choose to stay at a Bed and Breakfast they are able to enjoy their trip even more simply because Bed and Breakfast inns focus on each individual guest. In fact, there are several benefits a Bed and Breakfast has over regular hotels.

Benefit #1 Feel at Home

Most Bed and Breakfast Inns are typically small and have a limited number of rooms to rent out. However, each room has a lot of personality and is generally decorated around a theme and focuses on the comfort of guests. Each room is decorated in an elegant at-home way that is easily enjoyed by guests who want comfortable and beautiful surroundings to enjoy while on their trip. You certainly won't encounter the generic rooms of common hotels. All in all, when you stay at a Bed and Breakfast you will feel at home.

Benefit #2 Great Food

As the name suggests the daily rate of a Bed and Breakfast stay will certainly include the first meal of the day. While a Continental breakfast is frequently included in chain hotel rates the breakfast at a Bed and Breakfast is always of a significantly higher quality. This is because innkeepers take pride in serving well balanced and tasty meals allowing guests to enjoy every aspect of their stay. Although every Bed and Breakfast is different you can generally expect a full breakfast of meat and eggs with fresh baked muffins, fresh squeezed juice and fruit. Usually breakfast is served on fine china with silver cutlery, much higher class than disposable plates and cutlery at low priced hotel chains.

Benefit #3 More Economical

You are probably thinking, "yeah, right!" But the truth is Bed and Breakfast Inns really are more economical when you consider the entire price of the stay. For example, a Bed and Breakfast may charge what seems like expensive nightly fees, but everything is basically included from local phone calls to movies, and concierge services to parking. Just these extras at a hotel can add $100 or more to your daily bill. So, in the overall scheme of things a Bed and Breakfast will probably save you money and you will be more comfortable and relaxed at the same time.

Why

Many articles supply answers, but here I do not. Here, I ask the questions. If you want to rack your brains for finding the answers to these life conundrums. But, I warn you. Beware. These are not easy, and though somewhat hilarious and funny, they are real and true to life.

Should I begin? Ok, here I go:

1) How come Tarzan has no bears even though he grows up with wolves in the jungle?

2) Why does glue not stick to the insides of the tube or can that it comes in?

3) Why do they use sterile injections when executing someone who is condemned to death?

4) Why do we press down harder and harder or the remote controls even though we know that the batteries are low?

5) Why is it that when someone hits us in the ankles with his supermarket trolley and then appologizes, do we say that everything is ok? I mean, things are not really fine. Why is it that we do not say that it hurts?

6) Why is it that whatever the color of the bath soap, the bubbles are always white?

7) Why is it that you will never find a day when mattresses are not on sale?

8) Why is it that online casinos always offer big prize money for their tournaments but never reveal the real name of the winner after the competition is over?

9) If human beings evolved from monkeys, why is it that there still are monkeys?

10) Why did the Japanese Kamikaze pilots wear helmets during the second World War?

11) Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest but, then, duck when the empty gun is thrown at him.

12) Why do banks charge a commission when you go into debt even though they know that there is no money in that account?

13) Why do people go back again and again to the refrigerator hoping that something new to eat will appear there?

14) Why do people move their vacuum cleaner over a thin thread lying on the floor, bend down, pick it up, examine it, and then, place it on the floor again and move the vacuum over it again?

15) Why do people believe it when they are told that there are more than four billion stars, but when they see a sign that says wet paint, they have to touch and check?

16) Why does a plastic bag not open at the end where you first try to open it?

17) Why do you never hear jokes about father in laws?

18) Why are there dead insects inside enclosed electric lamps?

19) Why is it that in winter we try and keep the house as warm as it was during the summer when back in the summer we hated the heat?

20) Why is it that every time you try and catch something that is about to fall off the table, you always hit something else and drop that instead?

Conclusion:
Life has many oddities and conundrums: some funny, some less. I have mentioned but a few. Think of more? Send them to me.

Keeping Lives Safe On The Road

Accidents do happen unexpectedly, but they can be avoided.

However, despite the fact that a lot of people are trying their best to avoid it, still, many are in danger in the road while traveling. They will never know when an accident will take place. In fact, it seems that the number of people who gets into accidents while traveling is continuously growing.

In 2003 alone, statistics show that over 6 million car accidents have been reported in the United States, and in those accidents about 2.9 million were injured and 42, 643 people were killed. That is, indeed, a very alarming figure considering the fact that the campaigns about driving safely and avoiding road accidents are in full force.

So, where does the problem lies? Is it on the driver, the car manufacturer, the government, or is it fate for most people who get into accidents? In reality, nobody can really tell who to blame. The only choice people have is to continue driving safely and avoid accidents.

However, in the event that accidents happen, the only way to solve the mishap is to deal with it. Here’s how:

1. Emergency numbers in one’s mobile phone are extremely important.

People just don’t realize this yet, but the emergency numbers stored in their mobile phones are vital to one’s life, especially when away from home or while traveling.

Surveys show that people who usually survive in accidents are those who were attended to immediately by health experts. This goes to show that immediate actions are important so as to save people who have met accidents.

2. Panic is the number one killer in an accident.

The reason why many people do not survive in an accident is because they tend to panic first. They get so panic-stricken that they can no longer clear their mind and think of ways how to deal with the dilemma. That is why it is extremely important to stay calm when accidents and happen and think of ways how to solve the problem.

3. Prevention is still the number one remedy.

Today, car accidents are currently the top most causes of death, usually within the age bracket of 1 to 37. Hence, the majority of the drivers, who are prone to accidents, are young. Usually the causes of accidents in young people are speeding, reckless driving, not wearing seatbelts, and drunk driving.

And so, it is important to observe traffic rules and regulations so as to prevent road accidents while traveling. As they say, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

Traveller’s Tales From The Cornish Coast Of Britain

They say the light is clearer in Cornwall, washed of impurities by the barbed Atlantic winds. Free of pollution, the small village of Mousehole draws artists from all corners of England. Amateurs and professionals alike delight in capturing the character and make-up of this beautiful Cornish community.

I took the B3315 south from Penzance and headed for Mousehole. The road stretched along the coast, a narrow passage of twists and turns and steep inclines. Tall trees lined the steep banks, clinging perilously close to the cliff’s edge.

The high summer sun blazed down from above, glistening on the peaceful ocean. Never was there a more tranquil setting. Across the sea St Michael’s Mount stood defiantly, guarding the bay.

It wasn’t long before I reached Mousehole. As I entered the village the road narrowed further, just wide enough for two lanes. Everywhere seemed a little cramped and confined. Homes were placed almost on top of one another. This was a very intimate place not really suited to traffic. Driving here was making me claustrophobic.

The only way to explore this place was by foot so I parked the car at the first opportunity. Tight cobbled streets led the way to the harbour and panoramic views of Mount’s Bay.

Along the way I passed at least four artists, brushes in hand. One sat in a quiet back street endeavouring to capture the intimacy of a serene Cornish fishing village. He was a young man in his twenties and sat on a wonderfully efficient contraption that included the easel and seat all in one unit. He acknowledged me as I stood behind and gazed enviously at his talent.

I continued towards the harbour and a tiny beach, hoping to catch the young man later to witness his finished masterpiece. A gentle slope led to a small area of golden sand enclosed by the old harbour walls. Boats lay idly around waiting for the passing tide. Children ventured further out to get a taste of the sea.

The seasoned pub overlooking the harbour was at the hub of the community. The low beams and maze of corridors gave a traditional feel to the place. The stair walls were decorated with the photographs of deceased fisherman, drowned in stormy seas in the 1980s. Few can appreciate the courage of these men as they went about their day to day business to earn their livelihoods.

As I drove out of Mousehole the village stayed with me. So quintessentially Cornish, this deep-rooted fishing village has defied the sands of time.

Getting To Know The Work Of A Travel Agent

For people who are fond of traveling to different places, visiting marvelous beaches, and taking a trip to the most exotic island paradise, the job of a travel agent seems to be a far better job than anything else.

However, some people contend that the viability of a travel agent being a lucrative work has lessened due to the emergence of the Internet.

Nowadays, people can easily plan their vacation trips, acquire their tickets, and make their own plans and reservation through the Internet.

That is why some financial analysts have concluded that as the need for travel agents fall off, their wages deteriorates as well, considering the fact that it is already low. The median yearly salary of travel agents amount to $26,630, that was in 2002. The top 10% of the travel agents in the US were reported to have a salary of $41,660 or more. While the remaining half of the travel agents is currently earning between $20,800 and $33,580. All of these were bases on the U.S. Department Labor reports.

The bottom line is that travel agents are really not earning much. The only benefits they get are the discounts and special privileges on travel. Funny thing is, with their present salaries, travel agents may not even use these benefits because they cannot even afford to travel.

However, there are still those who want to become a travel agent in spite of everything. So, for those who really insist on becoming a travel agent, here’s how to do it.

1. A second language is a must for those who want to become a travel agent. Travel agents deal with different nationalities and a second language may just be handy in the future.

2. It is a must for every would-be travel agent to undergo 6-12 week training on how to become a travel agent. This includes all the basics of the job.

3. Computer literacy is also important because all of the transaction, invoices, and reports are done through computer utilization.

4. Knowledge on up-to-date information about the trends in the business. Also, it is a must for every travel agent to know the best places to go.

5. It would be better for those who want to become a travel agent to have their certification as a Certified Travel Counselor. This is an added value to their work.

Becoming a travel agent is entirely dependent on the person’s interest. So, whether the salary is low or high, as long as the person is happy with the job, then, there wouldn’t be any qualms for it.

Your Holiday In Tuscany

A region on the West coast of Italy, Tuscany is a fantastic destination for a truly unique vacation. Lying on the Tyrrhenian Sea Tuscany benefits from great beaches on one side and yet is also surrounded my magnificent countryside on the other. Major towns and cities in the area include Pisa, the location of the famous leaning tower and Florence, two of Italy’s most visited places.

Tuscany is divided into regions, one of which is called the Chianti Classico. For those of you who enjoy a glass of wine you may recognise the word Chianti as it is one of Italy’s finest exports. For this reason, the area is dense with vineyards, surrounded by small towns, castles and villas and makes a lovely change from the hustle and bustle found in many of Italy’s other regions and large cities.

To really get a feel for the rural area it is recommended that you utilise “agritourism” as your accommodation. This is a nice change from standard hotels as it involves staying on a farm or vineyard in a spare room, apartment or additional housing area which is rented out by farmers to supplement their income. Many of these are well established and offer the additional facilities a hotel may have, such as a swimming pool. If you are staying within the main accommodation with the family, your meals may well be included and you can be sure of a fantastic home cooked Italian feast every day of your stay. Should you be in self-contained accommodation you will find that facilities to make your own meals will be available.

Tuscany covers an area of 22,990 square kilometres, making it the fifth largest region in Italy. Included in this are the group of islands called the Tuscan Archipelago, the largest of which is called Elba. This is another much visited destination in the region due to its natural beauty and its artistic history, in common with much of Tuscany.

Tuscany boasts an impressive artistic history, as it is credited with being the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance movement. This manifests itself in the traditional form of art, such as paintings, many of which are displayed in the many museums in the area, the most famous of which is the Uffizi in Florence. Other mediums to have benefited from the Renaissance include sculpture and architecture. Many examples of these, particularly the architecture, can be stumbled upon in the streets, even in the small and remote villages which remain largely unexplored by tourists.

Wallowa Lake Tramway, Oregon - A Great Vacation and Travel Destination

A visit to Wallowa Lake Tramway in Oregon is an experience you will never forget. That's because the views are incredible and the ascent is so amazing that you will always have this memory guarded in your mind's eye. In 1970 the gondola ride opened in Wallowa County and it became the attraction that was most popular. Since then tourists who ride the tram up the 3700 feet to Mt. Howard's summit report back that it is an experience of a lifetime and one that will never be forgotten. In fact, many tourists come back time and time again to bring family members and friends or to experience the wonder of this trip one more time.

If you are wondering what the Wallowa Lake Tramway is all about just imagine sliding into a gondola and have it take you up 3700 feet to the summit of a mountain. Imagine the beautiful views you will encounter along the way and the joy you will experience from the bird's eye view.

Some of the things you will see as you are ascending to the summit include the blue waters of Wallowa Lake as well as the rugged peaks that stick out from the Eagle Cap Wilderness area. The ride up is amazing, but when you reach the summit you will have a new experience that won't be soon forgotten as well. At the summit you will encounter temperatures that are a bit cooler not to mention beautiful plants and vegetation. Most of the plants and vegetation only grow in alpine areas so you may not be familiar with all the plants.

There are lots of trails you can walk along as well to learn a little bit more about the area. There are signs that tell you the names of plants as well as any other important information you might need to know. So, as you are walking all your questions will be answered and you will learn quite a lot about the area. If you don't want to walk down a path then you might enjoy hanging out at the Summit Grill and Alpine patio. There you can enjoy anything from a nice beverage to a full meal while basking in the beautiful views that will literally take your breath away.

Once you see this kind of beauty you will always remember it and may even want to return for family reunions, weddings, picnics, or any other outing.

Traveller's Journal: Snowdonia National Park - Day 2

The Royal Victoria Hotel sits at the head of Llanberis Pass, near the foot of Mount Snowdon. Its elevated position provides wonderful views over Llanberis village, reminiscent of a wise old headmaster appraising his class.

Sandwiched between the two lakes of Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, the hotel is an excellent base for exploring the wild terrain of Snowdonia.

I awoke to another gloomy day. The rain had continued through the night and showed little sign of letting up. Apparently Llanberis gets twice as much annual rainfall as Caernarfon ten miles to the west and I could certainly believe it.

Breakfast was a pleasant affair. Staff dressed all in black were only too happy to serve your every whim. For the early risers, there's the luxury of a table in the conservatory and great views across the village and lake. Unfortunately my aching limbs would not allow the advantage of an early start and I took my place with the commoners in the breakfast room.

The staff all seemed to have strange accents, my best guess that of eastern European. This seems to be the norm these days. Everywhere I’ve travelled in Britain recently has been staffed with foreigners.

There appears to be some kind of European swap shop going on. Somewhere in the far flung corner of the continent must reside a glut of English people serving tea and coffee, and asking people what they thought of the weather.

I decided to take a walk in the village. Despite a population of just 2,000, Llanberis provides jobs for over 1,200 people, mainly through tourism. Its most famous attraction is the Snowdon Mountain Railway, Britain's only rack and pinion railroad. Believe it or not it opened the same day as the modern Olympic Games at Athens in 1896.

Unfortunately the opening day was not without its casualties when one of the carriages derailed and tumbled down Llanberis Pass. Amazingly there have been no more derailments to this day, a comforting thought as I made my way to the ticket booth.

Alas, the train today would only be going three-quarters of the way up due to ice on the track at the top. Having driven all the way to Llanberis the least I can do is wait for the ice to clear and travel to the summit.

So I decide to wait another day. Hopefully the rain may also have cleared by then. It’s only later I realise, not only is it the wrong day, but the wrong season and the snow will not clear until the summer. For now, however, it’s time for lunch.

Why Boutique Design Matters

What is boutique hotel design, and why does it matter?

There are fashion trends in hotel design just as there are in other areas. In the late eighties and through the nineties, that fashion was for clean, stark, minimalist design, particularly in city hotels. This was such a diversion from the traditional way that hotels were put together that it attracted a whole new generation of travellers.

It’s easy to confuse the minimalist hotel trend with the boutique hotel trend, but in fact the two are distinct. Boutique hotels are small, individual places, that prize attention to design and detail as well as outstanding service. Survey all the hotels in the world that describe themselves as “boutique” and only a minority would fall into the minimalist class. The rest are design-led, but with a wide variety of styles that reflect their location, the buildings they occupy and the tastes of their owners.

The beauty of good design

It’s often said that good design is timeless. It’s also the case that good design can transform an ordinary hotel into a great one. The challenge, and ultimately the skill, is in choosing a design that works both for the owner and for the guest, and that means a number of considerations:

• The building – a good boutique design is sympathetic to the building. Many of these hotels are in older buildings, or buildings that were never meant to be lived in. Matching the design to the form and function of the building and using its own internal and external features to shape the design usually makes for a successful conversion.

• The location – the design of a city hotel is often very different to that of a beach hotel or a rural retreat. Including elements of the location in the design is vital if guests are to feel that the hotel is part of the experience of the location. A strong understanding of how location affects design is needed to make these hotels work.

• Individuality – no boutique hotel is like any other. They draw on a range of influences and that is immediately apparent when you’ve stayed in several. Rich colours or white walls, stark furniture or cushioned comfort – it’s all up to the individuality of the owner.

Boutique design matters because it’s what distinguishes these hotels from the run-of-the-mill competition. It’s essential that they’re all different, but that they uphold three basic principles – creative design, attention to detail and great service.

How to Plan the Perfect Spring Break Family Vacation

From time to time everyone needs some time away from their life. It does not matter if you are 10 years old and in 5th grade or 35 years old and working a full time job, to maintain good mental health you have to take the occasional vacation.

Some time around the beginning of April most public and private schools have Spring Break from School which is a great time to plan a vacation.

Most vacations when you have children become about them, and you wind up at places like Disney land or some other child orientated vacation spot, but what about you?

Las Vegas used to be known as an adult getaway where what happens there stays there. This is no longer the case. Over the past 15 years, Las Vegas realized that more money can be made from a family orientated city rater then just from gambling.

Many casinos started adding attractions for children like go carts and other amusements, and many other activities aimed at giving a child a good time, but the casinos also opened up day care centers, so parents can get some time to enjoy themselves as well.

I know when I would go to Disney World with my kids after the 2nd or 3rd day I was looking forward to getting back to work.

For the last several years we have been going to Las Vegas for our family Vacations over spring break and the kids enjoy it. They get to go on roller coasters, swim, play video games, watch movie the list really goes on and on for all the things they can do, and I get to spend a few hours ever day with my wife in the spa getting a message, eating in nice restaurants and playing some Blackjack in the casinos.

Since we started doing this I have seen my family grow closer. My wife noticed that I am in a better mood for the rest of the year after we get back from vacation. I am enjoying my job more and all in all life is just better.

Putting together a Los Vegas vacation is very simple to do. You can go to a travel agent, or do it yourself online. I have always preferred to go to a travel agent and just let them do it, but if you are trying to save money you can get some good deals online that a travel agent can't or won't offer you.

If you choose to do it yourself, it is easy to do. You can go to your computer and do a search for Las Vegas. You will see every casinos and hotel listed and you can go thru them one at a time and see what they offer for you and your family to do.

You will also see everything the city and surrounding areas have to offer, and there really are tons of fun things for everyone in Las Vegas.

I hope to see you and your family there.

For "Boutique" Read "Fantastic Service"

One of the things that marks out a boutique hotel from others is the high standard of service it offers.

Why do hotel services matter? As long as the bed’s comfortable and the food’s edible, does it matter how the hotel treats you? For discerning guests, the answer’s “yes”. A hotel’s reputation is often based on its service – from the quality and availability of its food to its ability to handle complicated or sensitive requests. It is this type of service that many travellers believe is lacking in large hotels, which is why boutique hotels have high standards of service at their core.

What is good service?

People often complain about the service at their hotel, but what are they complaining about? Often it’s to do with the amount of time they spend waiting; waiting to check-in, waiting for someone to answer the phone, waiting for room service, waiting for food in the dining room. Slow service and lack of grace from staff is usually what causes complaints.

Boutique hotels believe that good service is:

Immediate – there’s no question of staff at a boutique hotel forgetting that you’ve ordered a drink. The service is designed to be almost anticipatory, making sure that you receive everything you ask for and that nothing is left out.

Pleasant and friendly – one of the most common complaints about hotel service is about attitude. No-one wants to be treated badly in a place where they are paying to stay. Boutique hotels ensure that staff are polite and friendly at all times, so that you feel comfortable asking for help.

Memorable – good service is not just about getting the minimum you expect, it’s about getting much more – to the point where it is one of the most memorable things about your stay.

Intuitive – it feels good to be greeted personally when you return to a hotel for a further visit. You notice if your favourite drink is available or if they’ve previously made a note of any allergies or particular likes, so that it almost feels like visiting old friends. Intuitively good service like this makes a real difference to guests.

Hotels shouldn’t be blinded by the trend for quirky design or hip accessories and forget the basics of good service. Those that do won’t make it into the boutique category of hotels, whereas those hotels that make the service one of the most important aspects of its offering will undoubtedly win fans from guests and travel writers alike.

Tips for Traveling with Infants

Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, there is a chance that you might find yourself traveling with an infant, and in this case, there are many things for you to consider. Traveling with an infant is unlike traveling with a small child, or even a toddler, so whether you are a parent or a babysitter, it is important to be prepared, especially if it is going to be a longer trip. Though it is easy to get anxious and concerned about this situation, the truth is that many people travel with small infants and if they remember to take the proper precautions, the trip can actually go quite smoothly.

The important thing to remember is that an infant, just like everyone else, has things that need to be packed and day to day needs. Of course, the first things to remember are the day to day hygiene supplies. Diapers, diaper rash cream, wipes, and a reusable pad to change your baby on are all basic things that you will find in your normal gear, so remember to pack these. Look around for travel-sized bottles of baby wash, baby lotion and disinfecting hand gel to make sure that you can keep everything tidy, and don't forget to bring a good change of clothes, especially ones that can easily be washed clean.

As a general rule, remember that blankets in the car are usually a good idea; you can cover yourself when nursing, keep your baby shaded or cushioned as well provide a soft and clean place to sit down if your baby wants to roam a bit. Remember extra pacifiers, and if your baby is on solid foods, remember baby food and an easy to carry and clean plastic feeding set. Take a look at everything your normally use to feed and water your baby, from formula to juice to sippy cups to plastic nipples, and bring those along as well.

If you are going to be on the road for more than one night, a few things can make it easier for you as well. Take some time to find a good nightlight, to make sure that you won't be stumbling blearily around your hotel room at 3 AM, and just in case of bumps and contusions, remember to pack a first aid kit. If you are going to be going some place where you are going to be walking a great deal, remember that a snuggle sack will help you keep your hands free for other things. For your own convenience, you may wish to think about purchasing an inflatable tub, a collapsible stroller or a travel playpen to keep your child occupied.

Traveling with an infant can in no way be considered lightweight, but rest assured that if you take the proper precautions, it will not turn into the disaster that you might fear. When all is said and done, don't forget the digital camera, either; can you imagine how cute he or she is going to look?

Spring Break, What Is The Best Location?

Spring break is a fun time of year, greatly enjoyed by the young and the um, younger. It’s a relaxing time spent away from the daily grind of studies and the boredom of sitting in classrooms all day, and is a great way for students of all ages to recharge.

For college and university students, spring break is a time to party. It’s a way to let off some steam from the stress of classes, plus it’s just plain fun. Some popular spring break locations include Miami, with its beaches and surfing, and Las Vegas, with many exciting things to see and to do.

For the family looking for popular spring break locations, one of the first places that come to mind is Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida, with its ever popular rides and many sights to see. There is also Disneyland in California, as well as the new California Adventures.

To be sure to get a nice place to stay and a reasonable flight, book a hotel near your spring break location of choice early. Flights do fluctuate, and you may be able to catch a good deal at a seemingly random time, so don’t despair if you run a bit late firming up your airline reservations.

Other spring break locations which might be fun include a trip to the Bahamas, to Hawaii, or maybe even to Alaska. For an educational destination, a trip to New York or Chicago, where there are many art galleries, museums, and cultural events, may be good choices. Great locales abound, and the only difficulty is to choose spring break locations that can be enjoyed for just the few days that a typical school break allows.

A spring break location that might work well for your family is a trip to Mexico – warm, sunny, and full of friendly people. The resorts of Mexico are appealing spring break locations because your primary purpose in going there would be to relax. Many travel agencies offer all inclusive packages that include everything from flight and accommodation to meals and beverages.

Spring break locations abound for the family that is looking for fun. There are many educational or outdoor adventure based spring break locations you can choose from as well – an outdoor adventure or a trip to go rock climbing or skiing can be a great way to spend time as a family or for a college student to have fun with his or her friends.

Regardless of where your final destination is, you can be assured that the break from school and work will be welcome.

Traveller’s Tales From The English Coast

A placid air had swept through town and once again the bay was a picture of calm. Children played upon the shore as the gentle waves lapped about the beach. Gulls swooped overhead, their merry chatter a sure sign that spring was in the air and warmer times here for all.

Across the bay a narrow strip of sand had defied the tide and stood as dry land. Hundreds of seabirds took refuge, safe from predators. A whole community chatted amongst themselves, discussing the options for lunch. The clouds that had earlier looked so threatening had now subsided; the bay was soaked in sunshine.

Burnham-On-Sea is a quiet little coastal town in south-west England inside the county of Somerset. Within easy reach of the M5 motorway, Burnham-On-Sea is a very popular resort with owners of caravans and motor homes.

A quick glance along the shore revealed Burnham-On-Sea’s most recognisable landmark, the beach lighthouse. It’s unusual in that it’s actually built on the sand itself. Originally found to be too low down to emit its light effectively, they decided to raise the lighthouse on stilts. It’s still in use today, helping keep ships safe in the Bristol Channel.

Burnham-On-Sea has grown from a tiny residential village with a couple of sand tracks to a popular seaside resort. The completion of the Haven caravan park confirmed its place on the map and resulted in a tourism boom.

In the early days sea defences were non-existent, leaving the village open and vulnerable to flooding. Though rare, flooding would cause devastation, the worst of which hit the town in the early part of the 17th century resulting in severe damage and heavy casualties.

At a cost of £7.5 million, the sea wall now provides Burnham-On-Sea with a safe and stable environment for both her residents and visitors. I left the seafront and headed inland towards the high street. I was greeted by the usual mishmash of shops. Hidden amongst the tacky seaside souvenir stores were some genuinely interesting shops.

I entered a cosy little bookshop and quickly scanned the shelves for anything of interest. My eye was drawn to the travel section. Unfortunately the rather chubby shop assistant provided something of an obstacle stood directly in front of the shelves.

In the greatest of British traditions I decided not to inconvenience him and so feigned interest in the cookery books whilst waiting for him to move. Mind you, I did find a cracking recipe for a curry.

Choosing The Right Private Jet Charter Service

As you may have experienced, vacations can be great or vacations may be awful. It all depends of every little choice you make to make a travel come true. One of these choices is deciding which private jet charter service is the best.

You have to keep in mind some things when choosing a private jet charter service. There are some good services for private jets out there but that may not be what you were looking for. For example: Do you need a butler for the plane? Do you need a Jacuzzi? Is the flight long enough to take advantage of the features your private jet charter service delivers?

First you have to make a contact list of private jet charter services available for you. Once you have that list you’ll need to talk to each and every one of them, if possible in person, so they can give you an in depth look at what their private jet charter services brings. Then you’ll have to look for features that you won’t want, and using this method, uncheck form the list some of those private jet charter services.

By now you should have a narrower list of service providers, this is good because it means every company in your list is better qualified to bring you a better vacation. The next thing to look for is price. You have to assume that all these type of private jet charter services are priced high, but sometimes is just too much and it is not worth paying all that much with your hard earned money. Look for a reasonable price and for things they may be charging you but you don’t want (a butler for example)

The last thing, but the most important is a subtle one. It is about the human factor. A private jet charter service is not all about the features and private jets, it is about people too. People that can make your travel a better one if they are kind and want to bring the best service to you. Try to know the people, the drive of the company. Ask them what makes them a better private jet carter service than the competition. Don’t be afraid to ask those questions, because at the end those question will be critical to the success of your travel.

Those were the tips for choosing a private jet charter service. But remember this all happens in the air, so when you land is all about you! Have the vacations you’ve always dreamed of! Make that business meeting a great opportunity for your company! A private jet service, will make sure your travel won’t be a stressful one.

Press Release: Why SEO Experts Should Not Use Press Releases

Rumor has it that press releases are the next big thing in the SEO business, and many companies are spending top dollars trying to write the next big press release announcing the next big balloon breaking technology. But is this really the next big thing?

By definition, a Press Release is a kind of news item released by the company on whom the news is being reported. As such, you will have to compete with all the other press releases and hope that your will get picked up.

Why Will Your Press Release Be Trashed?
1) Unless you are writing a press release about Microsoft, Adobe, Sony or one of the other mega-companies, or at least about a company that is relatively well known, forget about it. Journalists and news editors receive thousands of press releases a day and there is no way that they will waste more than a quick glance. So why should you pay a company seven to eight hundred dollars for them sending your press release to thousands of editors and journalists when they are going to junk it anyway?

2) Unless you are announcing a truly revolutionary product or technology (which I assume you are not since you are only interested in using the professionally paid and written press release to boost your search engine rankings), whatever you make up or announce such as some new free deal or new portal offering something unique, your chances of being picked up are very slim. Yes, the PR companies will tell you that they have vast experience in writing Press Releases that will make yours stand out and get picked up but this is not accurate. The only way your PR is going to get picked up is if it truly is something out of the ordinary or something that no one has ever thought off.

3) Unless you plan to spend millions of dollars and then just by sheer volume your site will go ahead in the search engines, this is not a good option. Why? If you send a large number of press releases then these will be placed on the different PR companies websites main page. Since most of these home pages have a very high page rank, your site will get a boost. The question is whether this boost is worth the large amount of money you will put into the PR companies pocket. No it is not. Use that money to buy (though I do not recommend this) links from high-ranked websites and you will pay less and receive more benefit.

4) Any press release, even if it has been accepted, will remain on the different pages for just a short time, making the time and effort and even more so the amount of money you paid fruitless.

Conclusion:
A press release is useful if you wish to contact the press and maybe get some free publicity, but it is of no use if you wish to use it as a tool in order to advance your website in the search engines.

Life Advice: A Lost Friend Speaks

When my friend sensed that in a few weeks the light of life was about to be extinguished, and that there was no more hope for him, he called me to his side and said, "If only I had lived my life differently, I might not have felt such an emptiness now. Promise me," he caught my hand, "Promise me that you won't make the same mistake." And when I asked him what mistakes, he asked me to get a pen and paper and to jot down his last words. Here they are in condensed form:

1) Talk less; listen more.

2) Listen to your grandfather's stories about his youth. When he's gone, you will relive the bond through these memories.

3) Invite friend over for a snack or dinner even if the house is a mess.

4) Eat popcorn in the living room even though its messy.

5) Invite the friends who have children home. Don't worry about their children creating a mess.

6) Sit on the grass even though it dirties your pants.

7) Never buy something just because it lasts for a long time or because it is practical.

8) Stay in bed and at home when sick and stop pretending that the world cannot go one without me for a day.

9) Light up the wonderfully crafted candles and let them burn out. Better this than they accumulate dust in the closet.

10) Share life's responsibilities with a partner, not only expenses.

11) (Meant for Women) Instead of waiting for the pregnancy to get over, cherish each moment in your heart. Understand that the life in you is the only chance you will get to help god create magic.

12) Let your children hug and kiss you whenever they wish to. Don't stop them by saying things like: later, go wash your hands first, we have to eat dinner.

13) Say the following two phrases as often as possible: "I love you" and "I am sorry."

14) Stop worrying about who loves or and who doesn't or about what others have or don't have.

15) Cherish all personal human relations.

16) Play with a pet every day. Laugh and run with it and take part in all its antics.

17) Spend more time with the people who love you.

18) Stop sweating because of all the small details and problems of life.

19) Grab every moment, look at it and live it. That moment will never return again.

Her name was Susan, and she had one six year old daughter. Susan taught me these few basic ideals that I have tried to follow in honour of her memory. It has made me a better man, a much nicer husband and in general, a happier person. Even now I can hear her say that God has blessed each and every one of us, and that we should accept these blessings and strive to become stronger both physically, mentally and also emotionally. I will always remember what she said to me the last time we met: "Jack, you are lucky. Don't blow it."

How to throw a poker run

My first motorcycle was a 1957 Harley Davidson. When I found the bike for sale I had no money, but I knew I needed to have this motorcycle. So I came up with a way to raise the money and throw a great party at the same time. I threw a Poker Run. The concept of the game is easy. Each person tries to make the best 5 card poker hand.

The way it is played is, each bike has to ride along a planed rout, every few miles there are checkpoints at each checkpoint along the way each bike must stop and receive a card. Along the rout there are 7 checkpoints, and at the end the rider with the best 5 card poker hand wins the prize

Over the years the poker run has been adopted to lovers of many different hobbies.

The poker run was originally an event bikers played on their Harley's, but over the years it has been borrowed by boaters and even runners.

Throwing a poker run is fairly simple but takes time and some not to hard work. The first thing you need to do is get approval from the towns that your poker run will go thru. There may be some paperwork and fees.

You will also need to make sure that at the end of the run is at a park or event hall. Depending on where you live you may also need a permit for the park.

Next you will need riders. By figuring out how much you want to have for the prize money and how much the part after the poker ride will cost you can figure out how many riders you will need and how much the entrance fee will be, but it should be no more then $100 per bike.

The next thing you will need to do is register riders. The best way to do this is to make a website, go to biker bars and biker events in your area. If you live in New York don’t go to Daytona Bike week to sign up riders, most people will not travel that far for a poker run. Try to get locals.

After you have registered the riders you now have to plan for the party. Along with registering riders for your poker run you should also sell tickets so friends and family can join in the party after the ride is over and the poker winner is declared.

The best way to advertise the party is on a local radio station and with posters around town. The more people you can get the more money you will have for a prize and for whatever cause you are trying to raise money for.

You can either, buy your own food and get some friends to help cook or you can look in the phonebook for a caterer and you should be able to find a caterer who will throw you a great BBQ.

Then all you need to do is wait for the big day and enjoy all the bikes, poker, beef and beer.

Why I Love Miami Beach Florida

Among the many attractive reasons for visiting Miami Beach, Florida, are, of course, the excuse now known as the must-attend Spring Break, or the roller-blading beach beauties, or the ideal weather conditions.

But more glamorous reasons, transcending the traveler’s penchant for balmy bay winds and such, is in the reputation a place like Miami Beach, Florida has for featuring popular TV programs and series and hosting films which have a Miami Beach, Florida setting.

The first long-standing show of the past is of course the Don Johnson and Phillip Michael Thomas original “Miami Vice” version, which highlighted the Miami Beach, Florida scenes, ocean- and landscapes, and even southern fashions of the seventies and eighties—the open necked t-shirt and sports coat and shoes without socks look that spread through the land as fast as Disco gold chains and polyester did.

But in the same genre, thirty years later, the even more influential Miami Beach, Florida show is CSI: MIAMI. The hang-dog heroic, the neo-Clint Eastwood with an intellect of David Caruso’s character leads the team into the Miami Beach, Florida luxury homes, onto the speedboats and yachts, and through the hippest of clubs of the famous party town. The details are fascinating; the scenes are riveting.

So maybe the crime statistics—implied—are too off-putting for one to think of actually taking vacation at Miami Beach, Florida….

Then the cinematic way to go is by old films and newer non-detective/mystery/crime story themes. That is, maybe one can understand the local offerings, the schools, the libraries, the networking possibilities, the real estate, by watching “Police Academy” or “Bad Santa” or “Wild Things.”

Maybe one can get a sense of the aesthetics, the social climate, and the politics of Miami Beach, Florida in a movie such as the new “Miami Vice” or the older, more non-fictionalized “A Sculpture of Love and Anguish: The Miami Beach Holocaust Memorial.”

Or, maybe one can appreciate the straight up beaches and wind in the palms atmosphere in films like “Always Something Better;” “Black Sunday;” or “The Godfather” or “The Crew.”

Sure, it may be an odd, quirky way to go about looking for real estate in Miami Beach Florida or deciding on the ideal vacation hotel or venue.

Then again, it might be a more realistic impression to closely watch a show than to read a pamphlet or two…and besides, how do you think 3-D advertising got its start?

A special celebration deserves a special location and a small, sophisticated hotel is often the perfect choice.

From a small private wedding to a birthday celebration or family get-together, the often idyllic locations occupied by boutique hotels provide the perfect backdrop for a special occasion.

Rural weddings

With romantic gardens, fine dining and stunning locations for photographs, small rural hotels are often ideal for a family wedding. The attention to detail that’s normally given to the hotel’s guests will ensure that your day runs smoothly, from the flowers at the ceremony to the strawberries in the dessert. Take the family to the South of France or Tuscany so that you can all celebrate in the warmth of the sun with the scent of olive groves or vineyards as a backdrop. Then spend your wedding night in one of the luxury rooms, with a specially-prepared breakfast hamper awaiting you the next morning, or a champagne breakfast on the terrace. Boutique hotels know how to do these things properly, so take advantage of their creativity and expertise to make your wedding day as special as possible.

Family parties

There’s nothing better than getting together with your extended family and enjoying a weekend where no-one has to shop, cook or keep the place tidy. The wonderful thing about many boutique hotels is that you can book them as a whole, effective hiring a weekend home for you and your family to enjoy, with excellent service and dining thrown in. Whether you’ve decided to meet up in a city, or you’re set on enjoying the countryside or lazing on the beach, there’s a cool hotel that can cater to your family’s requirements.

Celebration treats

Treat your parents to a stay in a boutique hotel for their wedding anniversary, or your partner for a special birthday. Staying in a boutique hotel is an experience in itself and it’s often one that many people wouldn’t think of doing as a matter of course. It may be as part of a city break, or it may be so that they can visit a part of the country or the world that they’ve always had on their wish list. An important part of a trip like that is the accommodation, so choosing an individual hotel will help to make the celebration particularly memorable.

Whatever celebration you’re planning, think of the possibilities offered by a boutique hotel. Attention to detail, excellent service and luxurious surroundings all combine to make it an occasion you won’t forget.
